Ministering In The Community for Over 150 Years

We are a very mission minded church and are involved in missions here in our local area, in mission across the U.S., and in mission in another country.

As a church we are sending out three missions teams again this summer. One team leaves on July 7th and will head to Kentucky. They will be participating in the Appalachian Service Project and will be working on homes in the Kentucky area. This team has a large contingent of Youth from the church. Another team will be

leaving July 9th for two weeks. With other team members from Toms Brook, Virginia, they will be traveling to Chelyabinsk, Russia. There they will be providing Vacation Bible School and providing humanitarian aid to a orphanage of 220 children and youth. On July 14th, a team from Crooks and northern Virginia will be

traveling to Four Corners to provide Vacation Bible School and provide humanitarian aid to the Navajo Tribes in the four corners region of the United States. We have also sent teams to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina and to the Franklin area following Hurricane Floyd. There are also many other mission opportunities available locally for our members to be involved in.  We have people who are involved in Port Link, a homeless shelter run in various churches in Newport News during the winter months. There is also the Lackey Free Clinic and the Bargain Box that provide funds by operating a thrift store on Dare Road. We are involved with the Food Bank that operates out of St. Luke's UMC. We are involved in Mikey's Camp and Children in Grief, that provide support for children and adults who have lost loved one's. We are involved with Camp Rainbow, a camp for handicapped children held at the UM Assembly Center in Blackstone, and All God's Children Camp, a camp for children whose parent is incarcerated.
